Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
How does the GST18V-60BCN control compare with the top-handle GST18V-60CN?
The 60BCN uses a double-sided pulse-activated on/off switch and speed presets, with a listed 800–3,800 SPM range. The top-handle 60CN uses a variable-speed trigger and a 0–3,800 range. Choose by grip and control preference; the specifications do not prove a personal comfort or accuracy advantage.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the GST18V-60BCN package document a vacuum setup?
Bosch lists a covering hood and suction nozzle in the exact GST18V-60BCN package, and its shared 60-series manual explains connecting the outlet to a separate hose and turning the blower off. The hose is not included. Do not assume the separately cross-listed JA1012 fits: Bosch’s JA1012 page restricts that kit to JS572E/JS572EB, so confirm any extra adapter or accessory with Bosch.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I count on the 60BCN for bevel cuts?
Not on the current sources. Bosch’s exact page lists zero maximum bevel capacity, while the shared manual only says to remove the dust hood before bevel/miter cuts and does not establish a specific adjustment or range. Verify with Bosch before treating beveling as an essential requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →The Bosch GST18V-60BCN is the barrel-grip bare-tool member of Bosch's connected brushless 60-series jigsaws. Its shared 60BC tool code covers a different control arrangement from the GST18V-60CN: Bosch describes a two-sided pulse-activated on/off switch and speed presets for the barrel-grip saw, instead of the top-handle model's variable-speed trigger. That change affects hand position and how speed is managed; it is a real configuration difference, not a cosmetic SKU suffix. This review is based on Bosch's pages and manual, not hands-on testing.
Barrel grip, switch and entry control
The 60BCN's barrel grip brings the hand nearer the workpiece than a raised top handle, while its soft-grip areas are described by Bosch as a small-circumference design. Its two-sided pulse switch is intended to be reachable with either hand. The manual says to push the switch forward to turn on and forward again to switch off; the start press is held longer to prevent accidental activation. This is not a trigger you feather continuously. The 800–3,800 no-load range is set through the on-board stroke-rate interface, and the manual says the adaptive speed-control feature slows blade entry before returning to the chosen rate once the blade touches the workpiece.
The product page also describes connected adjustments and drop-control information through the Bosch PRO360 App. The linked 2023 instructions call the app Bosch Toolbox, so confirm the currently supported app if connectivity is a deciding requirement. The page's claims about precision and reduced blade deflection describe design intent; they are not independent measurements of a finished cut.
Guidance, orbit and practical cutting setup
Bosch identifies a T-shank-only, tool-free blade-change arrangement. The manual says to fully seat the blade and place its back in the adjustable blade-guide channel. It lists a 1-1/32-inch (26 mm) stroke and maximum capacities of 155 mm wood, 20 mm aluminum and 10 mm mild steel. The current page gives 6-1/8 inches of wood capacity and 3/8 inch steel, but labels the stroke length as 6.1 inches. The shared manual's 26 mm stroke and capacity table make clear that 6.1 belongs with the wood-capacity figure, not the stroke. Treat Bosch's figures as published limits, not a promise about a particular blade or cut.
The manual describes four pendulum stages: 0 for hard stock such as metal or thin sheet; 1 for soft material when cleaner cutting or scrolling matters; 2 for medium-density work such as harder woods or particleboard; and the maximum setting for soft wood or plastic when speed takes priority over a clean edge. Bosch labels its chart guidance and calls for test cuts in scrap. Its chip blower is switchable. Bosch recommends it for high material removal in wood and similar stock, but says to turn it off for metal and for a connected vacuum. Keep blade speed within the blade maker's rating and support or clamp the work rather than forcing the saw.
What the exact package includes—and what remains separate
The exact GST18V-60BCN page names part number 3601EB0010. It lists the bare saw, two T-shank blades, an anti-splinter insert, plastic overshoe, covering hood and suction nozzle. Battery, charger and case are not listed. The manual describes a dust hood and extraction outlet for external collection, says the hose is not included, and directs the user to switch off the blower when the vacuum is connected. That gives this package a more tangible extraction starting point than the top-handle GST18V-60CN page, which does not list a hood or nozzle.
There is still a compatibility mismatch to keep visible: the GST18V-60BCN product page cross-lists JA1012, but Bosch's separate JA1012 page says that accessory is for JS572E and JS572EB only. The family manual’s generic Standard equipment table also names JA1012, but that table does not overcome Bosch’s separate JA1012 compatibility page, which lists JS572E/JS572EB only; the exact 60BCN page likewise cross-lists it. This assessment does not recommend buying JA1012 for the 60BCN. Use the hood/nozzle in the exact model package, check the separate vacuum hose connection, and ask Bosch to resolve the accessory cross-list before buying another adapter. The included hood must be removed for blade changes and for bevel/miter cuts; the manual separately says to switch the blower off for extraction.
Bevel limits and model-family distinction
Bosch's current GST18V-60BCN product data lists both bevel range and maximum bevel capacity as 0 degrees. The manual does tell users to remove the dust hood for miter or bevel cuts, but the reviewed operating pages do not give this exact configuration a clear bevel adjustment range or procedure. Because those statements do not align cleanly, this assessment does not treat bevel cutting as confirmed. It will not match a requirement that bevel capability be essential. For the same reason, the 60BCN is not a substitute for Bosch's GST18V-50BN, whose page and manual explicitly specify a 45-degree footplate range.
The 60BCN may suit a user who prefers a barrel grip, wants the connected 60-series speed controls and entry feature, and can use the listed 18V battery platform. If a trigger that can be feathered is essential, consider the top-handle GST18V-60CN instead. If confirmed bevel capacity is essential, the 60-series documentation reviewed here does not settle it; compare an individually documented model such as the GST18V-50BN rather than reading the generic manual phrase as a specification.
