Your needs, this model

How does the JS572EK control speed?
The top-handle JS572E uses a trigger to vary speed up to the maximum set on the separate dial, with a lock-on button for continuous operation. The JS572EBK barrel-grip version instead uses a slide on/off switch and a speed dial, so check the final suffix and preferred control layout.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the JS572EK kit include vacuum extraction?
No. Bosch identifies the JA1012 shroud-and-tube kit as a separate compatible accessory for JS572E/JS572EB. The JS572EK package list names the saw, overshoe, anti-splinter insert, three blades and case, not JA1012 or a vacuum hose.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I bevel while JA1012 is fitted?
The manual instructs users to remove the dust shroud before adjusting the footplate and also says to remove the anti-splinter insert. Do not assume the shroud-attached vacuum arrangement remains in place during bevel adjustment.
Explore this need in the finder →The Bosch JS572EK is a corded 120V top-handle jig saw kit with a 7.2A rating and a one-inch stroke. Its page lists a 45-degree bevel range, four orbital positions and an 800–3,000 SPM no-load range. What most separates it from the closely related JS572EBK is how the operator holds and switches the saw: the EK uses a top handle, speed-controlled trigger and lock-on button; the EBK uses a barrel grip and slide on/off switch. These are source-based distinctions, not claims about which grip is more accurate or comfortable for an individual.
Trigger control, blade fit and guidance
On the JS572EK, a separate dial sets the maximum stroke rate and the trigger varies the operating speed up to that limit. Bosch's manual describes the lock-on button for continuous operation. This arrangement permits trigger modulation while cutting; the barrel-grip JS572EB has a dial and a slide switch instead. Choose between them based on the control layout and hand position you prefer, not on an unsupported assumption that one has a guaranteed finish advantage.
The blade interface is T-shank only. Bosch explicitly says its jigsaws do not accept U-shank blades. The one-touch, tool-less clamp is paired with a double-roller guide; the manual stresses that the blade must be fully seated and rest in the guide's groove. The product page lists three assorted blades in the kit, but that does not tell you whether a particular tooth count, blade width or cut direction suits a project. Confirm blade compatibility and workpiece support before starting.
Choose orbit and material deliberately
The four positions are not a universal “more is better” speed selector. Bosch's manual describes position 0 for hard stock such as metals or thin sheet, I for soft material when a cleaner cut or delicate scrolling is wanted, II for medium-density material such as harder woods or particleboard, and III for soft materials such as wood and plastics when speed matters more than a clean cut. Bosch calls this a guideline and recommends test cuts in scrap. The product's maximum speed and the selected orbit are distinct controls: the dial limits SPM, while the selector changes blade movement.
The manual gives a second caution for metal work: switch the chip blower off for metals, cooling agents or dust collection. The built-in blower clears chips from the line; the product page lists no built-in dust collection. That makes it important to distinguish the visible-line feature from a vacuum connection, especially if a project needs both a controlled edge and debris management.
Vacuum extraction and angled cuts
The JS572EK has a documented separate vacuum route, but the kit page does not include the extraction equipment. Bosch's JA1012 accessory is identified for JS572E and JS572EB saws. Its current product page describes an articulating tube that connects to Bosch hoses; the VAC024 adapter is specified for 1-1/4- and 1-1/2-inch vacuum hoses. A suitable hose, adapter and JA1012 are separate from the JS572EK kit, so verify the exact hose fit before assuming the saw can connect to the vacuum already in a shop.
The manual says to remove the dust shroud and anti-splinter insert before adjusting the footplate for beveling. That is a setup boundary, not a blanket denial of bevel capability: the shoe can tilt up to 45 degrees, with detents at 0 and 45 degrees and marks at 15, 22.5 and 30 degrees. It does mean that the installed extraction hood should not be represented as compatible with the adjustment process. The included anti-splinter insert also must be removed when beveling and only works with certain ground-side blades identified in the manual.
What the JS572EK package actually adds
Bosch lists a JS572E saw, non-marring overshoe, anti-splinter insert, three assorted blades and a case. JA1010 and the extraction kit JA1012 are compatible accessories, not listed box contents. Bosch's 5.5-pound tool weight and dimensions are published specifications, not measurements of the full package.
A separate historical package matters when comparing suffixes: Bosch's 2012/2013 catalog lists the top-handle JS572EL with an L-BOXX-2 and insert, overshoe, anti-splinter insert, three assorted blades, dust hood, VAC024 adapter and suction nozzle. The retail code JS572EL is a package identity; its catalog entry names the underlying JS572E saw, not a different handle/control body. The former Lowe's JS572EL listing is marked no longer sold there. This is not the JS572EK kit list, and neither old catalog nor archived retailer listing establishes a present seller's box.

Its capacity table needs special care. Bosch's current JS572EK page lists 5-1/2 inches in softwood, 7/8 inch in aluminum and 3/8 inch in mild steel. The linked 2020 JS572E/JS572EB manual lists 3-1/2 inches in wood, 13/16 inch in aluminum and 5/16 inch in mild steel, and tells users to consult the tool nameplate. The page and manual do not explain this mismatch. This assessment preserves both sources and does not turn either set into an independently tested limit. Check the nameplate and the instructions supplied for the exact saw before planning a cut near a listed maximum.
Who may shortlist this top-handle kit?
The JS572EK is a reasonable candidate for someone who wants a corded top handle, T-shank-only clamp, trigger-speed control, four action positions, switchable cutline blower and a beveling footplate. Its JA1012 route may matter when external extraction is part of the plan, but it requires separate equipment and a non-bevel setup while the shroud is installed. A shopper needing an included battery should look elsewhere; someone already committed to a barrel-grip control layout should compare the JS572EBK instead. Bosch's 12V JS120N is a different compact battery tool, not a cordless version of this 7.2A kit.
Before ordering, check that the listing is the full JS572EK code, not the JS572EBK barrel-grip kit or the JS572E tool code used in the package description. Confirm the case and accessory list, T-shank blade requirement, voltage and nameplate/manual version. The Bosch page is evidence of a current catalog listing on the checked date only; it does not establish seller inventory, price, ratings or which extras an individual offer includes.
Sources and assessment limits
This assessment draws on Bosch's exact JS572EK US product page, its linked JS572E/JS572EB operating and safety manual, the separate JA1012 extraction-kit page, the JS572EBK comparison page and an exact-name CPSC recall query that returned an empty array on 2026-10-28. This search is bounded to the exact model name and check date. No claim of personal use, testing, measurement, price, stock, rating, customer experience or ASIN is made.
